WORSHIP

Acolytes
Children and adults assist the clergy in the liturgies of the Church. Acolytes carry the cross and torches in procession and serve at the Altar during the Holy Eucharist. Acolytes may also assist at weddings and funerals. The Acolyte Master provides introductory training for new recruits.

Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is a ministry of parish women and men who care for the Altar with its communion vessels, linens, and vestments. Guild members serve on teams with a rotating schedule of service duties such as ironing, polishing, preparing candles, and setting up the sanctuary for the Liturgy.

Flower Guild
The Flower Guild enriches our worship with the beauty of flowers. Members arrange altar flowers on a rotating basis for Sunday worship as well as special liturgies.

Greeters
Those who serve in this ministry give our guests that first and lasting impression of St. Alban’s. Greeters are stationed at the entrances to the Church at each Sunday liturgy to offer a warm welcome to visitors and parishioners, to answer questions, and to assist in other needs.

Lay Readers and Chalice Bearers
As an integral part of our worship, these men and women read the lessons during the Sunday liturgy and administer the Precious Blood from the chalice during Holy Communion. Training is provided. You must be confirmed and demonstrate the ability to read the Word with clear distinction and a strong, reverential voice.

Ushers and Oblationers
Ushers arrive early to welcome parishioners, distribute bulletins, and provide assistance in seating. During the liturgy, Ushers take up the offering and guide congregant to the communion rail. Ushers assist the clergy and prepare the facilities for worship. Ushers work in teams under a team leader. Oblationers bring forward the gifts of bread and wine in procession during the Liturgy.

Chamber Choir
The Chamber Choir sings the great hymns, anthems, chants, Mass settings, and other traditional music of the Church at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Liturgy.

PASTORAL CARE

Hospital Visitors
Prayer will be offered for the sick in the parish. Clergy and lay ministers may make hospital visits to comfort the sick, and to offer the sacraments and healing prayer. Please contact the church office at 817-274-7826 if a member of St. Alban’s is hospitalized. Because of new privacy laws, hospitals may not be able to inform us.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors
LEMs are licensed by the bishop to take the blessed Sacrament to the sick and home bound following Sunday worship once a month. Visitors lead a short devotional service at the home or hospital room and administer Holy Communion.

Parish Nurse Program
The PNP is a ministry that promotes the health of the whole person in our parish family. Monthly blood pressure checks are offered after the Sunday Liturgy, as well as various health classes. Registered nurses in the parish are invited to volunteer their time and talent.

St. Alban’s Angels
The Angels coordinate, prepare food, and provide house-sitting at times of crisis and bereavement for members of the parish. Please call to volunteer.

Senior Transportation
Volunteers assist the elderly and less mobile parishioners with transportation needs, including rides to church, the grocery store, and to the doctor.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers are trained visit with those in need on a regular basis, listen, offer resources and referrals, if needed, pray with and for them, and offer Christian love and support. A Stephen Minister is not a: counselor, therapist, problem solver, or casual visitor. It is a servant ministry modeled on Stephen, the first deacon.

PRAYER AND SUPPORT GROUPS

Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament
The Confraternity is the oldest devotional society in the Anglican Communion, the American branch founded in 1967. Its aim is to be a fellowship of men and women praying and working for a greater devotion to Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. All parishioners are invited to join us for a contemplative time of silent prayer during the Holy Hour (concluded with Benediction) on the first Fridays of the month from September to May at 5:00 p.m. in the Church.

Cursillo and Ultreya
Cursillo is open to all confirmed Episcopalians over the age of 21. Some four thousand in the Dallas-Fort Worth area have experienced a renewal of faith through Cursillo. Togther, they comprise the Ultreya community. The focal point of the experience is through the Cursillo weekend, held five times each year in the metroplex. Ultreya meets on the Sunday evening of these weekends for a pot luck welcome home dinner. Members also form small groups which meet regularly. See the bulletin board outseide the Parish Hall for events and additional information.

Daughters of the King
The DOK is a national religious order for Episcopal women that show Christ’s love through regular programs of prayer, service, and evangelism. Members meet regularly for fellowship and support, and for service opportunities.

Society of Mary
Devotion to the Mary is a fundamental recognition of the central importance of the Incarnation in Christian living. The Society exists to love and honor Mary, to spread devotion to her in reparation for past misunderstanding and neglect in the cause of Christian unity, and to take Mary as a model in purity, personal relationships and family life. All parishioners are invited to join us for a corporate rosary on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. in the Church.

Order of St. Luke
The objective of the OSL is to promote healing in the life of the church through prayer, study, Word, and Sacrament. Healing is an ongoing, life-long process of growth toward the wholeness that God desires for all creation. OSL meets on the third Saturdays of the month at 8:30 a.m. in the Library.

The OSV is an organization of lay ministers (acolytes, choristers, lectors, sacristans, ushers, vergers). Its objective is to cultivate the devotional life centered around the liturgy through daily prayer, a rule of life, and a vocational perspective.

Newcomers
Visitors to St. Alban’s receive an orientation class and printed information about our parish. The one secession class is offered every Sunday at 8:45 and 11:45 a.m. Newcomers are also invited to join ministry leaders for a monthly fellowship lunch at a local restaurant.

Children’s Liturgy

YOUTH

St. Alban’s Youth
The Youth are a vital part of our parish family.  St. Alban’s Youth Group strives to make holy disciples of Jesus Christ and faithful members of his church through worship, instruction, mission, and fellowship.  Our Teenage Youth Group meets every Wednesday from 6:30-8:00pm.  Our Junior Youth Group (ages 8-12) meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, from 12:15-1:30pm.

Youth Sponsors
No youth program is possible without a good number of adults who mentor and minister to our young people. It is a vital part of Christian formation in those important years of life. Youth sponsors receive training and background checks. Extra volunteers are also needed for limited engagements such as preparing dinners or helping with outings, parties, and special events.

Caritas
Are you interested in gathering with others in their 20s and 30s for food, fellowship, and discussion?  Caritas meets once a month for either a potluck meal or a dinner out.  Come and join us as we get to know each other and seek to grow together in caritas.

There’s a new tradition of fellowship at St. Alban’s. Join a group that shares a meal together once a month. Everyone contributes, so it’s easy. Each group designs its own meal schedule and plans, so every group is different. This is a great way to make new friendships and renew old ones.

Community Outreach

Vestry
The Vestry serves the parish by helping the Rector oversee the church building and grounds, and the church’s mission, and the ministries that take place here.
